They are the Rangers!
It was championship game day on Saturday at Soo Pee Wee Arena. And in one particular thriller, it took a fourth overtime period to decide a memorable marathon in the Soo Pee Wee Hockey League’s under 11 A division.
Trailing 2-0 in the third period and 2-1 with 30 seconds to go, Prouse Motors Rangers forced overtime in their title tilt match with S&T Group.
Through one overtime period into another and another and another with glorious scoring opportunities galore and sparkling goaltending from Owen Whitehead of the Rangers and Noah L’Heureux of S&T, the match finally came to an end in front of a packed house at the Pee Wee and upstairs at the Centre Ice Bar.
And it was Rylan Gillson of the Rangers who used his separation speed to get into position to fire a howitzer of a wrist shot into the S&T net to give Prouse Motors and head coach Ryan Barsanti a frantic 3-2 victory and the SPWHL’s under 11 A division championship.
Great job boys; both teams should be very proud. We enjoyed the game and the entertainment.
