Trevor Blanchard, who skated in 246 games in the Ontario Hockey League as a hard-working left winger, has a new coaching gig in his hometown of Sudbury.

The 39-year old Blanchard has been named head coach of the AAA Under 15 Nickel City Sons, Hockey News North has confirmed.

Blanchard, who has a good history of coaching within the Nickel City Hockey Association and Sudbury Minor Hockey Association, was an OHL mainstay as a player, spending most of his career with the Owen Sound Platers/Owen Sound Attack and the Sudbury Wolves. While with the Wolves, he played for legendary OHL coach Bert Templeton. Blanchard then went on to play three seasons at the Canadian university level.
