U16 AAA approved for Sault
Sault Ste. Marie is now in position to have an Under 16 AAA program along with a U18 AAA team for the 2023-2024 season.
Sault Major Hockey Association has posted on its website that it “is pleased to announce that the Ontario Hockey Federation has approved our request for U16 AAA cards for the upcoming season. Information regarding tryouts etc. will be posted as it becomes available.”
SMHA has iced only one team — a Soo Jr. Greyhounds U18 squad — to compete within the Great North Under 18 Hockey League over the past several seasons while both the North Bay Trappers and Sudbury Nickel Capitals have served player development with separate U16 and U18 teams.
