WHAM Warriors are mighty mites

WHAM Warriors competed in the January Freeze Hockey Tournament in Bay City, Michigan on the weekend — and the mite division team of seven-year old skaters from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario came away with the silver medal.

The Warriors fashioned an impressive 4-0 record before losing 4-2 in the championship game to the North Channel Lightning, a team that featured eight-year old players.

Members of the silver medal-winning Warriors from the Soo include players Cash Rowswell, Koen Kurylo, Maeson Goulet, Chayse Collins, Vivianna Merlino, Donald Hernden, Gavin Darlow, Carter Neabel, Drew Allison, Nathan Morin, Logan Dearing-Zonga, Nicholas Dearing-Zonga, Samuel (Sammy Salami) Caruso, Griffen Albert, Keegan Dane, Joshua Lamming and coaches Brent Lamming, Tom Hernden, Don Rowswell and Leo Morin.

  1. Tremendous! I am on this site every day for my hockey news fix. You are the best Randy. Thank you for covering the little guys. As a parent from this WHAM hockey team I know my boys really loved seeing a picture of them in the news. Keep it up .
