World under-17 playoffs set
Quarter-final games are set to go today at the World under-17 Hockey Challenge that is being held in Sault Ste. Marie.
Today’s action is slated to begin at noon at the Essar Centre with Team USA and its 2-1-0 record taking on Team Sweden, which finished round-robin play with a 1-1-1 mark.
At 4 p.m. at the Essar, Team Canada Red, with its 2-1-0 record, takes on Team Canada White, which ended round-robin play with a 1-2-0 mark.
At 4 p.m. at John Rhodes Community Centre, 2-1-0 Team Russia faces off against 1-1-1 Team Czech Republic.
And at 7:30 p.m. at the Essar, Team Canada Black takes its 2-1-0 record to face 1-2-0 Team Finland.
The winners will move into Friday’s semi-finals, slated for 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Essar.
Semi-final winners will then play in Saturday’s gold-medal game at 7:30 p.m. at the Essar.
The losers from Friday’s semis will meet in the bronze-medal game at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Essar.
