Another member of the Batchewana Attack of the new Canadian International Hockey League has been called up to the Tier 1 junior, United States Hockey League.

Rob Delury, a 1995 birth-year forward, will join the Des Moines Buccaneers of the USHL, Attack president-director of hockey operations David Maciuk has confirmed to HockeyNewsNorth.com.

Last month, Batchewana goalie Jack Hickey was promoted to the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL.

The USHL is the only Tier 1 junior league in the United States and is considered by some to be on par with the Ontario Hockey League.

What you think about “Batchewana to Des Moines”

  1. interesting that players on non HC teams cannot get the call up but USA hockey is OK with it.
BR could use some bodies from Batchewanna, St Charles, Sudbury, No?

    1. Leads to what is heard more and more in Canada. It’s not about skills it’s about who you know. At the end it’s the kids that pay the price by adults reducing their opportunities. What has become of our National game ??

  2. gr8northscout:
Why in the hell would any player from Batchawana or St. Charles want to go play for Blind River …espesially since the CIHL is a better League than the NOJHL !!!

  3. I think those who are Anti-CIHL must be green with envey with this latest player getting called up to a higher League such as the USAHL.

  4. Being an Espanola season ticket holder, I’m not surprised at all and expect to see more call ups. The quality of hockey is there. Sadly, looks like it will be the death of the Beavers as they have previously existed, but they’d fit in nicely geographically in the CIHL and is a more realistic model for smaller town teams…
