Big games for Pilon, Marshall et al

Four games were played in the new Canadian International Hockey League on the weekend and there was a first.

COLBORNE 4, TORONTO 3

Colborne Hawks recorded their first win of the season, a 4-3 victory over the Toronto Jr. Hockey Academy on Saturday.

Alex Bidwell scored the winner in the shootout to move the Hawks record to 1-8 and out of last place, past the Sudbury Royals.

BATCHEWANA 6, SUDBURY 4

The winless Sudbury Royals showed improved play but still came up a little short in a 6-4 defeat at the hands of the league-leading Batchewana Attack on Saturday.

Drake Pilon had the hat trick to pace Batchewana.

BATCHEWANA 5, ESPANOLA 1

A four-goal second period carried the Attack to a 5-1 win over the visiting Espanola Rivermen on Sunday.

The Attack now sits atop of the CIHL standings with a perfect 10-0 record.

Jacob Palmerio scored twice to lead the Attack.

ST. CHARLES 4, SUDBURY 0

St. Charles goalie Sylvain Morin stopped 25 shots for the shutout and Scott Marshall scored three goals to lead the Spirit to victory on Sunday.
