Collingwood Ice of the new Canadian International Hockey League has signed five players, including three with high-level, junior experience, HockeyNewsNorth.com has confirmed.

Topping the list of Ice recruits are 1995 birth-year goalie CJ Sharp and 1994 birth-year defencemen Austin Bissonnette and Jan Mendel.

Sharp tended twine for both Cobourg and Pickering in the Ontario Jr. Hockey League in 2013-2014, Bissonnette skated for Elliot Lake in the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League while Mendel has played multiple seasons with junior teams in Slovakia.

The Ice has also signed two other players — defencemen Jordan Brennan from a Division 1 prep program in Quebec and forward Deyon Johnston, a local high school hockey grad from Collingwood.

Both Brennan and Johnston will be entering their first season of junior in 2014-2015.
