A champion has been decided in the first-year Canadian International Hockey League.

Six goals in the third period was the difference as the Batchewana Attack put away the visiting Espanola Rivermen 9-2 on Wednesday to sweep the best-of-seven championship series in four straight games.

To be sure, it was close until the Attack erupted in the third period.

Batchewana led 3-2 after two periods on goals by Chris Zajac, Nate Harris and Rob Delury while Espanola countered with two markers from Jayden Southwind.

But it was all Attack in the third, as Batchewana scored six times to put an exclamation point on the title-clinching victory.

Delury and Harris scored their second goals of the night, while singles markers were tallied by Darian Pilon, Drake Pilon, Jacob Palmerio and Kendell Huckins.

What you think about “Hail to the Batchewana Attack”

  1. Very hard to keep up a full game against the Attack. I think some Rivermen players didn’t play with much heart while others played with every last ounce in their bodies. It’s hockey that happens. Denny coached a very talented team and made them even better, you could definitaly tell the difference in discipline when he wasn’t at the games as the other coaches didn’t have as much control of the players. Great job by the Attack though.

  2. With the talk of TC hoping to do inter league games with the GMHL, I’d love to see a Temang Vs Attack game. Top teams from each league, be interesting to see how the Attack would fair against a power house Titans team.

  3. Tinker my friend… I think the attack would have taken any team you put in front of them. They would beat every NOJHL/OJHL teams as well. Denny and the boys were awesome. That Kendal Huckins should have went D1/Pro!!
