Rivermen headed for Attack

Keegan Paulette made 25 saves for his second shutout of the season as the visiting Espanola Rivermen blanked the new Markstay-Warren Spirit Warriors 6-0 in Canadian International Hockey League action from Saturday.

The Spirit Warriors, formerly the St. Charles Spirit, played their first game before a hometown crowd of 239.

However, the Rivermen played spoilers with goals from Isaak Picken, Zack Pregent, Byron Sam, Carter Noble, Adrian Nicholas and Jason Borer en route to victory.

Espanola travels to Batchewana this afternoon for a 4 p.m. game against the league-leading Attack at Rankin Arena.
