Sudbury Royals sign Russian rocket

Score one for Sudbury’s new junior A hockey team.

Speedy Sergey Erileev is taking his goal-scoring machine to the Sudbury Royals of the new Canadian International Hockey League.

Royals general manager KB Beals has confirmed the addition of Erileev to the Sudbury roster.

Erileev, a Russian-born, 1995 birth-year centre, has signed with Sudbury’s CIHL squad after spending parts of the past two seasons in the Greater Metro Hockey League.

The 5-foot-11, 180 pound Erileev played in 60 games in the GMHL and put up 123 points, including 52 goals.

Since leaving Russia in 2012, Erileev has also played in the North American 3 Hockey League.

I think Barons are going to have some serious competition in town when it comes to junior “A” hockey fans and where they spend there bucks WOW, I like it, and I am hoping to catch about 10 Royals games this year to see what the new league is all about. Aug first fast approaching that means hockey soon !
