A clutch goalkeeping performance by Sault Ste. Marie product A.J. Borrelli boosted the Sudbury U18 Nickel Capitals to a 3-1 road decision over the New Liskeard Cubs today.

Borrelli held the fort for Sudbury, especially in the third period with New Liskeard pressing. The win for Borrelli improved his record to 2-4-0 and lowered his goals against average to 3.17. Borrelli’s statistics are particularly impressive considering that the U18 Nickel Capitals as a team have a record of just 4-11-0 in Great North Under 18 Hockey League play.
It was the resilient Borrelli’s first regular season action for the U18 Nickel Capitals since mid November after missing five games with a severe case of pneumonia.
