AJ shows shutout form
Sudbury U18 Nickel Capitals will take a record of 1-1 into today’s round-robin finale at the Great North Under 18 Hockey League’s playoff championship tournament.
A win over the North Bay U16 Trappers today will advance the U18 Nickel Capitals into the semi-finals of the league’s eight-team event that is being held in Sault Ste. Marie.
The U18 Nickel Capitals began Day 1 of the tournament on Thursday with a 7-1 loss to the powerhouse Soo U18 Greyhounds. The U18 Nickel Capitals then came through with a clutch 3-0 victory over the Timmins Majors. Sault Ste. Marie product AJ Borrelli backstopped Sudbury to the win over Timmins with a spectacular shutout that earned him the game star.
