Bloodlines of U16 NBT trio

The top three scorers for the North Bay Under 16 Trappers of the Great North Under 18 Hockey League all have deep roots through dads who played in either the Ontario Hockey League or at the Division 1, National Collegiate Athletic Association level.

Owen Smith

They are Grady Dale, Owen Smith and Ty Dubreuil. All three members of the U16 Trappers are 2009 birth year forwards and prospects for the 2025 OHL priority selections draft.

As for the dads and their rather impressive backgrounds:

Andrew Dale played in the OHL from 1993 to 1996, suiting up for 182 regular season games with the Sudbury Wolves and Kitchener Rangers as a productive forward. In all, Dale skated in 182 regular season games in the OHL and netted 73 goals, 88 assists, 161 points. He became a National Hockey League draft pick of the Los Angeles Kings and played five seasons at the minor pro level.

As for Steve Smith, he was a checking centre for the Kitchener Rangers and Windsor Spitfires of the OHL and played in 157 regular season games from 1989 to 1992. He managed 22 goals, 41 assists, 63 points.

Over to Dale Dubreuil, he played four seasons of Division 1, NCAA hockey at Canisius College in Buffalo from 1996 to 2000. All in all, he had 69 points in 91 games as a good, solid forward.

Back to the youngsters, Dale, Smith and Dubreuil are all among the top six 2009 birth year forwards in the entire Great North and figure to be closely watched by a number of general managers and scouts ahead of the 2025 OHL priority selections draft. And not only are the three OHL draft prospects all really good players in their own right but they also have the high level hockey bloodlines of their fathers.
