First up in the Great North
Highlights of Day 1 of the Great North Under 18 Hockey League championship tournament included three teams winning both of their games and four goalies posting shutouts.
Soo U18 Greyhounds, North Bay U18 Trappers and Kapuskasing Flyers all took two games to begin the title tournament that is being held in Sault Ste. Marie. Sudbury U18 Nickel Capitals and Timmins Majors both went 1-1 on opening day while North Bay U16 Trappers, Sudbury U16 Nickel Capitals and New Liskeard Cubs all lost their two games.
Picking up shutouts were Alex Hall of Timmins, AJ Borrelli of the U18 Nickel Capitals, Michael McIvor of the U18 Trappers and Nathan Maguire of the Soo.
All eight teams are back in action today.
