Great North title at stake
Five teams — including two from Sault Ste. Marie — will face off at the Great North Under 18 Hockey League playoff tournament that is slated for this week in Timmins.

Soo Under 16 Jr. Greyhounds will go up against four U18 teams — the U18 Jr. Greyhounds, the North Bay U18 Trappers, the Sudbury U18 Wolves and the host Timmins Majors at a five day event that begins on Wednesday of this week.
The four teams advanced to join the hosts from Timmins following the Great North preliminary round playoffs that were held in Sault Ste. Marie this past weekend.
With a number of 2009 birth year players projected as possible picks for this year’s Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft, the U16 Greyhounds will have a lot to play for in addition to championship aspirations this week in Timmins.
Among the 2009 birth year prospects from the U16 Greyhounds are a trio of high scoring forwards, namely Adam Pszeniczny (29 goals, 35 assists, 64 points in 30 regular season games), Jacob Vincent (11-31-42) and Wyatt Jarratt (16-21-37.)
Notably, Jarratt, at 6 foot 1, 180 pounds, is a mix of size, strength and skill as a relentless, workmanlike winger who commutes 120 miles round trip from the back roads of the village of Wharncliffe to Sault Ste. Marie for practices and home games.
