They forced the play from the outset and kept the pressure on with a relentless fore check. And the end result was a 6-2 win for the Soo Jr. Greyhounds over the visiting New Liskeard Cubs in Great North Midget Hockey League action from Friday.

Overcoming a strong outing by New Liskeard goalie Zach Prusky, the Soo was full marks for the victory that improved its record to 13-4-2 atop the standings of the Great North.

The 16-year old Prusky, a Sault Ste. Marie product in his first year in the Great North, kept New Liskeard in the game with a number of good saves while under constant siege.

The visitors were eventually able to get their overall game going only to ring more than a couple of shots off the Soo goal posts.

Still, it was the home side that controlled a good portion of what was an entertaining clash.

Michael Chaffay with a pair of goals and solo markers by Gavin Ritacco, Dylan Szabo, Calem Mangone and Ethan Esposito accounted for the Soo scoring.

Dean Chitaroni and Carter Richmond replied for New Liskeard as the Cubs record dipped to 5-7-1 with the defeat.

The two teams meet again today at 12:30 p.m. at John Rhodes Community Centre.
