Soo Jr. Greyhounds have their first win of the 2023-2024 Great North Under 18 Hockey League season. In their home opener today, the Jr. Greyhounds upended the travel-weary Kapuskasing Flyers by a 5-1 score. The Soo victory followed three straight road losses to the North Bay Trappers last weekend.

Power forward Seb Dos Reis powered the Soo to victory today with two goals and two assists. Nathan Dupuis, Griffin Albert and Wyatt Leblanc also scored for the home side while defenseman Brady Real had three assists.

Nick Marson was the winning goalie for the Jr. Hounds and now has a record of 1-1-0 and a 1.50 goals against average in his two starts to this season.

Kapuskasing, which played at New Liskeard — and beat the Cubs — on Friday night now has a record of 2-3-2 in seven games.

The Jr. Hounds are home to Kapuskasing again on Sunday in a noon start at John Rhodes Community Centre.
