Kowal is a Paper King
Espanola Paper Kings of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League have obtained hulking forward Cayden Kowal from the Georgetown Raiders of the Ontario Jr. Hockey League in a cash transaction.
The 6-foot-3, 180 Kowal, who has a 2006 birth date, was a top scorer in helping to lead the North Bay U18 Trappers to the Great North Under 18 Hockey League championship last spring. Regular season and playoffs included for North Bay in 2022-2023, Kowal totalled 15 goals, 25 assists, 40 points in 27 games.
He is also familiar to Espanola, having skated in nine games for the Paper Kings as an affiliate player in ’22-23 and putting up impressive totals of four goals, four assists, eight points.
Paper Kings general manager Marc Gagnon is beyond happy to add Kowal to the Espanola lineup.
“I like how he plays,” Gagnon relayed to Hockey News North. “Cayden is a big, strong power forward who played well under (Paper Kings head coach) Jason (Rapcewicz) last season as an AP and having him full time is exciting.”
