Espanola Paper Kings of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League have officially registered Sudbury U16 Nickel Capitals goalie Nick Marson as an affiliate player. Paper Kings general manager Marc Gagnon confirmed the recent signing of Marson as an AP to Hockey News North.

Marson, who does not turn 15 until December 16, has been a stalwart between the pipes for the U16 Nickel Capitals as one of the best — and youngest — goalies in the Great North Under 18 Hockey League this season, thus catching the attention of Gagnon, the Espanola GM.

Marson has a record of 5-0-1 with a 2.63 goals against average in Great North play as one of the top tenders in the entire eight team league while playing well for a U16 Nickel Capitals team that has an 8-3-1 mark. A Sault Ste. Marie product, Marson headed to Sudbury to try out for — and make — the U16 Nickel Capitals prior to the start of this season after being cut by his hometown Soo Jr. Greyhounds of the Great North.

In signing as an affiliate player with Espanola, Marson can practice with the NOJHL team when called upon. He can also dress or play for the Paper Kings should one of their goalies get hurt. Current goalies on the Paper Kings active roster are 19-year old Jake Marois and 18-year old Creedon Dyck while 16-year old Andrew Gaulton has been on the injured list since early October.
