NB goalie to Powassan
Powassan Voodoos of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League have stayed in their own back yard to sign 2008 birth year goalie Carson Ruddy from the reigning Great North Under 18 Hockey League champion North Bay Trappers.
Regular season and playoffs included for the Trappers in ’25-26, Ruddy rang up a perfect record of 22-0.
“Signing with the Voodoos means a lot … it’s kind of where I have wanted to be for the last couple of years now, and it feels good to finally be here,” said Ruddy, who also led the Great North with five regular season shutouts.
Voodoos general manager Chris Dawson said the folks in Powassan have been impressed with Ruddy’s progression between the pipes.
“He’s a winner, no doubt,” said Dawson. “Carson moves efficiently and has had some great goaltending coaching from Rob Graham. We have been impressed with his timely saves, and on top of that, he’s developed into one of the top puck-handling goalies.”
