Sudbury U18 Nickel Capital Wolves of the Great North Under 18 Hockey League will maintain a proverbial and well respected coaching staff for the 2023-2024 season, Hockey News North has confirmed.

As Brian Dickinson will be back behind the bench as head coach of the U18 Nickel Capital Wolves, so too will his hand-picked assistants, Clayton Bertrand and Marc Tardif, be returning. Also back as the team manager is Fred St. Onge.

Under the tutelage of Dickinson and his staff, the U18 Nickel Capitals had a strong finish to the 2022-2023 regular season, winning seven of their final nine games en route to placing fifth in the eight-team Great North with a record of 12-16-0. The U18 Nickel Capitals then fashioned a 2-2-0 record and finished tied for third at the league’s end of season, playoff championship tournament. (North Bay U18 Trappers pulled a stunning upset of the top seeded Soo Jr. Greyhounds in the Great North championship game.)

At any rate, Dickinson, naturally, is thrilled to be returning as coach of Sudbury’s U18 team, telling Hockey News North that “we have unfinished business … and we are extremely proud that the Sudbury Minor Hockey Association has tagged us to lead this group again.”

Meanwhile, the Sudbury U16 Nickel Capital Wolves will have a new head coach for the 2023-2024 season as Randy Koski takes over from Jordan Cheechoo.
