On to the Great North semis
Four teams remain in the quest for the Great North Under 18 Hockey League playoff championship. The league’s championship tournament is being held in Sault Ste. Marie and semi-final matchups are set for Saturday.
North Bay U18 Trappers will face off against the Sudbury U18 Nickel Capitals in one semi-final match and Soo U18 Greyhounds will play the Kapuskasing Flyers in the other.
North Bay and the Soo both finished the round robin portion of the eight team tournament with 3-0 records while Sudbury and Kapuskasing each had 2-1 marks.
Individually, Hudson Chitaroni of the U18 Greyhounds led all scorers during the round robin with six goals, five assists, 11 points in three games. As for the goalies, AJ Borrelli of the U18 Nickel Capitals had the best numbers with a 2-0 record while allowing only one goal in the two games he played.
