Slender tender Charlie Burns, hulking defenseman Gage Evans and dogged defender Evan Roach of the Soo Jr. Greyhounds of the Great North Under 18 Hockey League all became Ontario Hockey League picks on Day 2 of the priority selections draft.

The 6-foot-1, 165 pound Burns, who was the top goalie in the Great North, went in the ninth round to the Niagara IceDogs.

The 6-foot-3, 187 pound Evans went in the 14th round to the Windsor Spitfires.

And the 6-foot-1, 163 pound Roach became a Soo Greyhounds draft pick in the 15th round.

Notably, Evans’ dad, Cory Evans, played for the Spitfires from 1993 to 1995 after being acquired in a trade with the London Knights. A hustling, hard-hitting howitzer of a left winger, the elder Evans was originally drafted by London in the seventh round of the 1991 priority selections process.

As for Roach, his dad, Gary Roach, is a former standout defenseman with the Greyhounds who was part of their 1993 Memorial Cup championship team.
