Three straight for U16 Wolves
Sudbury Under 16 Wolves have climbed to the .500 mark. After beginning the ’24-25 Great North Under 18 Hockey League season with three straight losses the U16 Wolves have since reeled off a trio triumphs.

Head coach Clayton Bertrand and his pack of 2009 birth year players ventured up to Kapauskasing on the weekend and returned with 8-5 and 5-3 victories over the Flyers. The back to back wins followed their initial victory of two weekends ago, a come from behind overtime decision over the league leading Soo Under 18 Jr. Greyhounds.
Bertrand was full of praise for his young charges following the weekend sweep up in Kapuskasing.
“The weekend was a total team effort from everyone. We had some adversity with penalty issues and injuries and some guys stepped up and filled those opportunities … I am really proud of how the group supported each other,” Bertrand relayed to Hockey News North.

“We had some guys have some breakout weekends with Carter Mullen scoring three goals and Leighton Pelltier and Sam Piette getting two each,” Bertrand continued. “Our goaltending was solid when we needed them with Tyson McMahon and Owen Lamothe make some key stops at key times in both games. And our defensive core was solid all weekend … they bent but never broke, led by one of our leaders in Robert Landry, who was steady for us all weekend.”
The U16 Wolves are now off from league play until Oct. 31 when they go on the road to face the North Bay Under 18 Trappers.
