Timmins Majors of the Great North Under 18 Hockey League have been bolstered by the return of 17-year old forward Thomas Beard from the Timmins Rock of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

Majors general manager Ron Holmes confirmed to Hockey News North that Beard has been reassigned to the GNU18HL team from the NOJHL Rock. Holmes referred to Beard as a “huge boost and great addition to our team.”

A local product, Beard performed well in spot duty for the NOJHL powerhouse Rock through 32 games this season, totalling four goals, five assists, nine points.

Rock head coach/general manager Brandon Perry told Hockey News North that Beard will continue to practise with the NOJHL team while playing for the GNU18HL Majors.

“He is going to remain with us day to day and play games with the Majors,” Perry relayed. “This is a way to maximize his development … he is going to get to play and play a lot (with the Majors), dominate, have the puck on his stick a lot, play in important situations … and be there for us when we need him.”

Beard had 10 goals, 10 assists, 20 points in 25 GNU18HL games for the Majors in 2021-2022. He will be in the lineup for the Majors this weekend when they play host to the North Bay U16 Trappers for a pair of games at McIntyre Arena. The Majors have a record of 9-6-2 in GNU18HL play thus far this season.
