U16 Nickel Caps advance
Sudbury U16 Nickel Capitals of the Great North Under 18 Hockey League have advanced to the semi-finals at the prestigious Waterloo Gold Puck Tournament.
The U16 Nickel Capitals won all four of their games in their division in the round robin portion of the event.
In impressive fashion, the U16 Nickel Capitals scored respective 4-2, 5-1, 3-1 and 4-1 wins over teams from Oshawa, Markham, Whitby and Quinte to advance to Sunday morning’s semi-finals against the Huron Perth Lakers.
Goalies Mateo Beites and Nick Marson both posted two wins for the Nickel Caps. Points wise in the four games, the Nickel Caps were led by Anthony Bertrand, Cameron Vehkala and Cole Dubowsky with six apiece, Max Campbell and Keynan Kydd with five each and Coulson Bell with four.
