U16 Trappers win two in Soo
It was certainly worth the bus trip to Sault Ste. Marie. North Bay Under 16 Trappers triggered an improbable weekend road sweep against a pair of teams ahead of them in the Great North Under 18 Hockey League standings.

The sixth seed U16 Trappers began the excursion to the Soo with a 4-3 overtime win over the third place U18 Jr. Greyhounds. And the U16 Trappers capped the weekend with a decisive 6-2 verdict over the fifth place U16 Jr. Greyhounds.
In the opener, Ty Dubreuil delivered a pair of regulation goals and Owen Smith sniped the OT winner with his 14th marker of the season in the Trappers triumph over the U18 Hounds.
Then, in the weekend send off, Phil Lafontaine tallied twice and an added an assist and Cedar Montreuil scored a single and set up two others to lead the U16 Trappers past the U16 Hounds. With his overall play clearly visible, the aforementioned Ty Dubreuil added his third of the weekend and 12th of the season and fellow forward Janssen Fransen — there’s a rhyme for you — also stood out with an energetic effort and a solo goal for North Bay.

Adam Pszeniczny used his lanky size and skill to score both goals for the U16 Hounds, giving him 14 on the season. Meanwhile, U16 Hounds forward Wyatt Jarratt turned in strong outing despite not figuring in on the score sheet. A physical winger with size and who also has 14 goals on the season, the 6 foot 1, 180 pound Jarratt brings a working man’s mentality to the ice.
