This is a crucial set of games for the Soo Jr. Greyhounds. The Jr. Hounds of the Great North Under 18 Hockey League are home for three games in as many days this weekend as the New Liskeard Cubs are in town.

Game times are Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the Northern Community Centre, Saturday at 8 p.m. at John Rhodes Community Centre and Sunday at noon, also at the Rhodes.

The Jr. Hounds currently sit in last place in the Great North with a record of 3-8-1. They have a 2-4-1 mark since Denny Lambert took over as head coach and brought in a staff of new assistants that include fellow former Ontario Hockey League and National Hockey League left winger Jeremy Stevenson. Both played in the OHL with the Soo Greyhounds. And Lambert is also a former assistant coach and head coach of eight years with the OHL Hounds.

On the individual scoring chart for the 2023-2024 edition of the U18 Jr. Hounds, Seb Dos Reis is leading the way with three goals, eight assists, 11 points. Then it is Espen Escasa with four goals, five assists, nine points followed by Danny MacDonald with 6-2-8 numbers and then four players with seven points apiece — Sam Caruso, Griffen Albert, Coulson Bell and Wyatt Leblanc.

All are rookies with the exception of Albert and Bell.

Meanwhile, New Liskeard heads to the Soo with a record of 5-5-0.
