Sudbury U18 Jr. Wolves have gone from fourth place finishers during the regular season to playoff champions of the Great North Under 18 Hockey League.

The U18 Jr. Wolves put a cap on an improbable run today with a narrow 3-2 win over the host Timmins Majors in the title tilt of the Great North championship tournament.

Sudbury was able to hold on to a 3-2 lead that it took in the second period despite being assessed the final six penalties of the game.

Jameson Fabbro, Hudson Goulet and Russell Ranger all scored solo goals for the U18 Jr. Wolves, who had upset the no. 1 seed North Bay U18 Trappers 4-3 in overtime in the semi-finals.

Kaddes Katapaytuk and Jordan McLeod replied for the hosts from Timmins, who finished in second place during the ’24-25 regular season. The Majors had advanced to today’s championship game with a 3-2 semi-final win over the Soo U18 Jr. Greyhounds.

Sault Ste. Marie product Madden Glavota of the Sudbury U18 Jr. Wolves poses with the Great North championship trophy with his dad, John Glavota. The elder Glavota won the Great North championship in 1993 as a defenseman with the Soo Legion.
