Alliston captain off to Finlandia
Swedish-born defenceman Victor Svensson, who captained the Alliston Coyotes of the Greater Metro Jr. Hockey League in 2014-2015, has committed to play at the Division 3, National Collegiate Athletic Association level for the Finlandia University Lions effective the 2015-2016 campaign.
Finlandia is located in the northern Michigan town of Hancock.
Svensson, who has a 1994 birth date, had 31 points in 34 games during the 2014-2015 season for Alliston, which is coached by Jim Aldred, who was a hard-toiling left winger for the Soo Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League from 1981 to 1983.
Finlandia is coached by Dane Litke, a former North American Hockey League coach-of-the-year.
