Malek is heading home

Soo Thunderbirds graduated forward Andrew Malek is returning to his home state to play Division 3, National Collegiate Athletic Association hockey for the Concordia University of Wisconsin Falcons.

The 2000 birth year skater played the first part of the 2020-2021 Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League season with the Blind River Beavers before being acquired by the Thunderbirds in a trade.

In 65 career NOJHL games divided between Blind River and the Soo, the 5-foot-11, 185 pound Malek totaled 21 goals, 13 assists, 34 points.

As for Concordia, the Falcons are members of the 11-school Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.
