Fans and Sault Ste. Marie area youth hockey teams are invited to interact with the 2014-2015 Lake Superior State University Lakers and new head coach Damon Whitten on Sunday, September 28 at 4 p.m. at Taffy Abel Arena.

The Meet the Lakers event includes a scavenger hunt, free pizza and chances to win prizes. The entire Laker team, which includes returning players and multiple incoming freshmen for the 2014-2015 Western Collegiate Hockey Association season, will attend the event.

In addition to the scavenger hunt, attendees can participate in on-ice or off-ice drills with the players and enjoy a skate with the Lakers from 4-6 p.m.

Scavenger hunt participants can win a free ticket to a Laker game plus other prizes.

Youth hockey players from both sides of the International Bridge — and all youngsters under the age of 14 — are encouraged to wear team jerseys and enter a contest to win a night as honorary Laker captains for themselves and their team.

Local teams are asked to RSVP by contacting LSSU sports information at 906-635-2601 before this Friday.
