LSSU makes offer to local lad
Lake Superior State University Lakers have made a non binding, verbal offer to high scoring Soo Thunderbirds forward Jacob Smith. The Lakers are a Division 1, National Collegiate Athletic Association program based in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
The LSSU offer, which has been accepted by Smith, is a verbal commitment, is not binding and can be rescinded by the school at any time.
Smith, who has a 2006 birth date, was a top rookie performer in the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League in ’23-24 while leading the Thunderbirds in scoring with regular season totals of 29 goals, 37 assists, 66 points in 58 games. He added two goals in six playoff matches.
