The beat goes on. The best team in the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League has added an all-star forward from the Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

Powassan Voodoos have obtained 19-year old Shane Beaulieu from the Mississauga Chargers in a cash exchange completed on the Canadian Jr. Hockey League trade deadline day.

Beaulieu had 7 goals, 15 assists, 22 points in 37 games with Mississauga and was a member of Team OJHL South that competed at the Eastern Canada All-Star Challenge back in November.

Beaulieu is excited to head to Powassan and be a Voodoo.

“From what I’ve heard the organization is nothing but first class and when the opportunity came up I couldn’t say no,” he began. “Their record speaks for itself and a 25-game winning streak is far from lucky…I know we’re going to do big things and I can’t wait to get going.”

Voodoos general manager Chris Dawson gave his take on the acquisition.

“Beaulieu is a skilled forward with speed and he sees the ice well,” stated Dawson. “We think he will definitely help both our power play and our penalty kill.”

Beaulieu is expected to make his Voodoos debut on Friday in a road tilt against the Soo Eagles.
