46 goals for Thunderbird captain

Soo Thunderbirds captain Gavin Burbach has a shot at a 50-goal season.

Burbach, a 1993 birth-year forward who is in his fourth season in the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League, needs four goals in the Thunderbirds final three games of the 2013-2014 campaign to hit the 50-goal mark.

Burbach leads the NOJHL in goals with 46 and in points with 83.

The Thunderbirds, meanwhile, have all but clinched first place in the NOJHL.

With three games to play in the regular season and 93 points from a record of 45-5-3, the Birds have a 10-point lead on the second-place Kirkland Lake Gold Miners.

Kirkland Lake does have three games in hand on the Soo, thus could still overtake the Birds for first, although that is rather unlikely.

What you think about “46 goals for Thunderbird captain”

  1. the Soo captain is in deed a good player but don’t you think at 20 years old, he SHOULD be at the top of the scoring race with all the other 20 year olds.
The kids that impress me are the younger ones in the top 25-30 who are rookies and compete with these 20 year olds night after night and succeed : Players like LOCKE and ROY from Abitibi, BILLINI and HEADRICK from the Soo, CHAMPAGNE and THOMAS from North Bay and PUNKARY and BUTTERFLY from SUDBURY.
