Baker’s dozen for the Birds

Make that 13 straight wins for the Soo Thunderbirds. The top ranked team in the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League extended its victory streak to lucky 13 with weekend road victories over the Hearst Lumberjacks and Timmins Rock.

Coach Cole Jarrett and his league-leading Thunderbirds now have a 33-5-5 record for 71 points and a winning percentage of .826.

Notably, in leaving the northeast nook of Hearst and Timmins with wins, the Thunderbirds used both of their goalies, 19-year old Noah Zeppa and 17-year old Noah Metivier, on the way to victory.

Zeppa and Metivier are 1-2 among NOJHL goalies. Zeppa has a 13-1-1 record with a 2.08 goals against average and .908 save percentage. Metivier is 17-3-4 with a 2.12 goals against average and .913 save percentage.
