Blind River board member resigns
Long-time Blind River Beavers board member Linda Lamorie has resigned her position with the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League team, HockeyNewsNorth.com has learned.
Lamorie’s departure was confirmed to HockeyNewsNorth.com by Beavers president Rachelle Nyman.
“We want to thank Linda for her many years of dedicated service to the Beavers,” Nyman told HockeyNewsNorth.com. “Her fundraising efforts are greatly appreciated.”
Lamorie, who has been a volunteer with the Beavers for about 10 years, is the second board member to resign from the team since being elected along with Nyman earlier this spring.
Former president Bob Haworth also stepped down.
The departure of Lamorie and Haworth leaves the Beavers with seven board members, including the president.
The Beavers are hoping to rebuild from a disastrous 2014-2015 season from which they went winless, posting a record of 0-55-1.
Blind River has since hired former Ontario Hockey League defenceman and erstwhile Ontario Jr. Hockey League coach Brad Barton as its new coach and general manager.
A fresh start is what is needed here in Beaver Town and to me it seems that is exactley what the new Prez is intending to do.
Good Luck to you Rachele.
Thanks for your many hours of dedication to the Beavers Linda as well as numerous tanks of gas and your work as a billet home, I worked with you and I think that you did a tremendous job. Enjoy your well-earned retirement.
Randy,
I got onboard with the Beavers the year that Todd Stencil came in as coach. Don’t remember the year.
Don’t put to much into my resigning.
I am just tired and need a break.
The new board are more than capable to get this team going in the right direction. New blood works.
Need to spend time with family, especially our grandkids.
People of Blind River come out and support the Beavers.
