Beavers oust Wings
Patrick Boivin made 31 saves and a second period goal by Jake Kovacs stood up as the winner and the Blind River Beavers are off to the next round of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League playoffs.
Playing at home, Blind River edged the Elliot Lake Red Wings 2-1 on Wednesday to take the best-of-three, NOJHL West Division preliminary round series two games to one. Boivin was making his first appearance of the series in the Beavers net.
The narrow win for Blind River sends it to the West Division semi-finals against regular season champion Soo Thunderbirds. The series begins tonight at 7:00 at John Rhodes Community Centre in the Soo and for Blind River it will be its fourth game in as many night.
