Enough is enough.

Blind River Beavers halted a five game win-less streak against the Soo Thunderbirds today with a 4-1 victory.

Playing at home, the Beavers scored two power play goals and rode the good goal-tending of rookie Gavin Disano to end a skid in which Blind River had gone 0-4-1 over its previous five games against the Soo.

Defenseman Ethan Pegg, Thomas Michaud, Noah Minns and rookie Blake McNally tallied for Blind River, which moved back to the .500 mark with a 6-6-1 record by virtue of today’s triumph.

The empty net goal for McNally, a 2003 birth year forward and homegrown Blind River product, was the first of his Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League career.

Caleb Wood replied for the Soo.

The 17-year old Disano, a Sault Ste. Marie product, was sharp throughout between the pipes while making 32 saves in netting the victory for Blind River. Disano has now been in goal for four of Blind River’s six wins this season.

It was a penalty filled match with the referees making a number of questionable, borderline calls.

With the loss, the Thunderbirds now have a record of 8-4-1 with the two teams slated to meet again on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 in Blind River.
