Beavers, Rock both 2-0
Two teams are off to tidy 2-0 starts following the first week of ’24-25 regular season play in the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.
Blind River Beavers used home ice to score a 6-3 win over the Hearst Lumberjacks and a 4-1 conquest of the Elliot Lake Vikings. Forward Wyatt Gibson paced the Beavers with three goals and an assist in the two Blind River victories.
Meanwhile, Brant Romaniuk totalled six points as the Timmins Rock rolled to back to back road victories. The Rock powered past the Powassan Voodoos by a 5-1 margin before routing the French River Rapids by a resounding 9-1 score. A 2007 birth year forward, Romaniuk had three goals and three assists in an impressive showing in the two Timmins triumphs.
