Sault Ste. Marie product Coulson Bell got to make his Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League debut as a 15-year old affiliate player for the Espanola Paper Kings with family members in attendance.

And in a true class act, Espanola head coach Jason Rapcewicz inserted Bell into the starting lineup for Friday’s game against the Soo Thunderbirds. With the Paper Kings short on players for the night, Bell was summoned by Espanola from the Sudbury U16 Nickel Capitals of the Great North Under 18 Hockey League for Friday’s road game in the Soo, which the Thunderbirds eventually won 5-3.

Bell will be back with his Sudbury teammates tonight when the U16 Nickel Capitals play host to the North Bay U18 Trappers in Great North action.

The 5-foot-10, 160 pound Bell has five goals, three assists, eight points in 12 games for the U16 Nickel Caps thus far this season. More impressively, Bell has three goals, two assists, five points in his last three outings. Bell headed to Sudbury to play for the U16 Nickel Capitals this season after being cut by his hometown Soo Jr. Greyhounds. Both teams are members of the GNU18HL.
