Birds down to two goalies
Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League have whittled their goalie group to a pair of local puck-stoppers.
The Thunderbirds have traded 17-year old goalie Nolan Chartrand to the Hamilton Kilty B’s of the Greater Ontario Jr. Hockey League in a cash exchange.
Chartrand, who signed as a free agent with the Thunderbirds in early November after being released by the Elliot Lake Red Wings of the NOJHL, performed well in his time in the Soo, posting a 3-1-0 record with a 2.26 goals against average and a .903 save percentage.
With Chartand gone, the Thunderbirds now have a net tandem of two local lads — 19-year old Noah Zeppa and 17-year old Noah Metiver.
