Soo Thunderbirds general manager Jamie Henderson has confirmed the commitments of several rookie players ahead of the 2021-2022 Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League season.

Included in the flock are top performers from both the Soo Jr. Greyhounds and Kapuskasing Flyers of the Great North Under 18 Hockey League.

The Soo products are 2004 birth year goalie Noah Metivier, 2004 birth year defensemen Michael Beltrano and Creo Solomon, 2003 birth year defender Kolby Fellinger and 2004 birth year forward Samuel Lake.

And the Kapuskasing grads are defenseman Kyle Trottier and forward Kelsey Ouellet. Both players have 2003 birth dates.

The Thunderbirds have also gone to the United States Premiere Hockey League to sign Christian Howanitz, a 2002 birth year winger from Colorado Springs.

Henderson, as the Thunderbirds new GM, noted the influx of new talent to the Bird nest.

“We have added a lot of good, young talent and with what we have coming back in terms of returning players, we like the makeup and character of what we now have as we begin to prepare for the coming season,” Henderson told Hockey News North.
