Birds take over the Gardens

A showdown between the top two teams in the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League is on the slate as the Soo Thunderbirds will play host to the Hearst Lumberjacks on Friday at 7:00 p.m. at GFL Memorial Gardens.

In order to accommodate more spectators, the Thunderbirds will move to the Gardens for Friday’s match from their usual John Rhodes Community Centre home.

With 61 points from a record of 28-5-5 and a winning percentage of .803, the Thunderbirds are perched atop the West Division standings. They have won eight straight games.

Meanwhile, Hearst is first in the East Division with 64 points from a record of 31-7-2 and an .800 winning percentage. The Lumberjacks have won 12 games in a row.
