Playoffs in the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League got underway tonight. Playing at home, the no. 4 seed Blind River Beavers cuffed the no. 5 seed Elliot Lake Wildcats to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three, West Division, preliminary-round series.
Sault Ste. Marie product Garret Boyonoski made 30 saves and Blind River product Caleb Serre tallied twice and added an assist to spark the Beavers to a tidy 5-2 triumph.
Game 2 in the set is slated for Sunday afternoon at 2:00 at Blind River Community Centre.
