Blind River Beavers have a GM
Less than a week after hiring Kyle Brick away from Soo Thunderbirds to be their new head coach effective the 2016-2017 season, Blind River Beavers have filled their vacant general manager position, HockeyNewsNorth.com has confirmed.
As they aspire to have a closer relationship with the community, the Beavers have appointed Blind River resident Dennis Lawrence as their new GM.
Lawrence is no stranger to the Beavers, having worked for the team in a volunteer capacity.
Brick as head coach and Lawrence as GM replace southern Ontario native Brad Barton.
Barton performed the dual role as coach-GM with the Beavers for the 2015-2016 season, during which Blind River missed the playoffs and finished 11th overall in the 12-team Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.
As Lawrence has Blind River roots, new bench boss Brick originally hails from the nearby, Highway 17 town of Thessalon.
Currently an assistant coach with the defending champion Thunderbirds — who are playing in the NOJHL finals versus the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners — Brick will officially begin his commitment to Blind River effective the end of the 2015-2016 season.
Peachy want to be G.M. but no get intervu may be Montreal Canadien hire Peachy ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Starting to come together. I like this new direction hope-fully the Fans will come back to support our Beavers.
Well…..Dennis is a well liked guy around Town. On the other hand I am not sure if that translate’s to being the G.M. of a Junior “A” Hockey Team.
How ever As R.R. has pointed out many times in the past we do not expect to win the Championship to get fans out to the Game’s. We just need to be competative and win a Playoff Serie’s like when Todd Stensil was our Coach.
Denis Lawrence is a good man who cares about the Beavers // // nice to get a Local involved with running the Hockey Team.
Good Articles on the Beavers RR.
In talking with Randy at the Greyhounds game in the Sault lass week he spoke highly of Kyle Bryck as a Coach and he said to me at that game that he thought that Dennis would be named as the General Manager . and Randy seemed quite confadent that the Beavers would be an improving team for next season. We sure hope so!
They should just fold that team in Blind River its been a big emberrsement to the NOJ for Years now. People there dont have a friggin clue.
Good luck with this staff it’s a complete joke
To Elliot Lake # 1: nice dump of a town that you live in!!!!!!!!!
To Freddy F–k Head: what do you know???!!!???
Lol, Beavers Fan Since 2004:
Forgot that Blind river is just so much better compared to Elliot Lake.
Hope this joke of a team can turn it around sooner rather than later. Maybe take a page out of the wildcats book, I mean if it’s not too dumpy.
haha
What does kyle brick now about coaching? Good luck beavers. I could of thought of a list of names that would benefit this dying organization much better.
Know*
Freddie and Retired Bird are the = same person.
Hire someone who actually has hockey experience so they can go out and try and recruit . The best teams ex: cochrane, KL recruit the hardest. They should be going all over Ontario trying to find guys who are able to actually play the game
Beavers New GM
Congratulations to Dennis and the Beaver organization.
Good luck this season both on and off the ice.
Locals have worked before- why not now.
Just need to get scouts in place to move forward and then the
new coach, Kyle, can get his act together building the team.
Bricker will do a great job. He won’t be out worked or out coached by anyone. He has a great mind for hockey and knows the game better then anyone I can think of in these parts of the North. I’m sure he has also picked up a lot of things from smitty over the years. Biggest thing will be getting players to blind river that are fully committed for the whole season. Same problem that always seems to plague this team. If the rumours are true about his staff I don’t think that should be a problem. Players will love playing for those guys. All the best bricker.
