It’s Monday night hockey this evening as the Soo Eagles play host to the Soo Thunderbirds in a 7 p.m. face off at Pullar Stadium in the Michigan Soo.

With the best record in the 12-team Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League, the Thunderbirds are flying high with 81 points from a record of 40-4-1.

The Eagles are in eighth place overall and fourth in the West Division standings with 40 points from a record of 19-25-2.

This will be the ninth meeting of the regular season between the cross-border rivals. The Thunderbirds hold a 7-1 edge in games but the Eagles won the last time the two teams met.

Known more for their balance than their explosiveness, the Thunderbirds have 12 players who have scored at least 10 goals thus far this season. Forwards Jaren Bellini and Matt Caruso lead the Thunderbirds with 23 goals apiece.

Fowards Nate Harris and Evan Ketner have scored 18 goals apiece to lead the Eagles in that category.
