BR goalie signs OHL deal

Niagara IceDogs of the Ontario Hockey League have signed goalie Charlie Burns of the Blind River Beavers of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League to a standard player contract.

The 6-foot-1, 170 pound Burns, who has a 2006 birth date, was a ninth round pick by Niagara from the Soo Jr. Greyhounds of the Great North Under 18 Hockey League at the 2022 OHL priority selections draft.

Burns is in the midst of a standout rookie season in the NOJHL with Blind River. He has a 13-3-3 record with a 2.00 goals against average, .923 save percentage and five shutouts.

“We are very excited to have Charlie sign as an IceDog,” relayed Niagara owner and general manager Darren DeDobbelaer. “Charlie is having an exceptional year in the NOJHL and we look forward to having him in our organization.”
