Canada Day signings in Powassan
Powassan Voodoos of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League have waved in Canada Day with the signing of forward Parker Bowman and defenseman Dan Boutin.
Bowman, a 1999 birth-year forward who played at the AAA midget level with the North Central Predators, netted 23 goals, 29 assists, 52 points in 64 games in 2015-2016.
“He showed strong at our spring prospect camp,” noted Voodoos head coach Scott Wray.
Bowman, who hails from Bracebridge, said Powassan is the right spot for him.
“Powassan is the place for a northern Ontario boy like me, small-town life and big-town hockey,” Bowman exclaimed.
As for the other signee, Boutin skated for the nearby Temiscaming Titans of the Greater Metro Jr. Hockey League in ’15-16.
The Amos, Quebec product is thrilled to join the Voodoos.
“I believe it’s a step up for me in development and a great opportunity to play a sport I love. I am really excited to join the Voodoos family.”
